- OUR SERVICES
Smoke Control Systems
At DmasonEngineer, we specialise in the design, installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of smoke control system controls for residential buildings. Our focus is on protecting communal escape routes, particularly corridors and stairwells, in line with the intent of Approved Document B (ADB).
Our Scope
We deliver the control and integration elements of smoke control systems. While we do not install AOV windows or physical ventilation openings, we design and install the systems that ensure smoke control measures operate correctly during a fire event.
Includes
- Smoke control control panels
- Fire alarm interfacing and cause-and-effect programming
- Power supplies, monitoring, and fault reporting
- Commissioning, testing, and ongoing maintenance
System Types
We provide control solutions for:
- Natural smoke control systems using AOVs
- Mechanical smoke ventilation systems
- Pressurisation systems protecting stairwells and escape routes
Each system is configured to suit the building layout and the agreed fire strategy.
Protecting Stairwells & Escape Routes
Stairwells are critical life safety elements, serving as the primary escape route for occupants and the access route for fire and rescue services. Our objective is to keep smoke out of these areas, significantly reducing the risk of smoke inhalation.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do you cover my area?
Yes. We cover London and the surrounding areas. Send your postcode and we’ll confirm.
What are smoke control systems, and do I need one?
Yes. We can fault-find, repair, and upgrade existing smoke control systems, including vents, actuators, control panels, and interfaces. We’ll assess what’s in place, identify the cause of failures, and recommend the most practical route to restore reliable operation.
How often should smoke control systems be tested and serviced?
Smoke control systems should be tested routinely and serviced to a planned schedule to ensure they operate correctly when triggered. We can set up a maintenance plan that includes functional testing, reporting, and clear documentation for your records.
